# Wave Splitter
Wave Splitter is a custom ability introduced through PokeClash. It is the signature ability of Mega Clawitzer.
## Effect
### In battle
Wave Splitter lowers the damage of aura and pulse moves used by a Pokémon with this Ability by 25%, but causes them to become two-strike moves. Heal Pulse heals 50% of the target's maximum HP twice, including when using Z-Heal Pulse.
Since Wave Splitter turns moves into two-hit multistrike moves, each strike has a separate chance to be a [critical hit](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Critical_hit).
Items and Abilities that trigger upon strike such as [Cursed Body](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Cursed_Body_\(Ability\)) occur for each strike, and [Spiky Shield](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Spiky_Shield_\(move\)) and [King's Shield](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/King%27s_Shield_\(move\)) only damage and decrease Attack (respectively) once if they protect a Pokémon from a contact move used by a Pokémon with Wave Splitter.
Additionally, there is only one accuracy check, so either both strikes hit or both strikes miss.
Any attack which has a secondary effect has the same secondary effect on both strikes (such as [Dark Pulse](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Dark_Pulse_\(move\))); if a secondary effect has a certain chance of occurring, each strike has an independent chance of activating that effect.
Even if the Pokémon's Ability is changed to [Mummy](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Mummy_\(Ability\)) after the first strike, it will continue to make a second strike regardless.
[Struggle](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Struggle_\(move\)) will inflict recoil damage equal to half the user's maximum HP (after the final strike).
If a Pokémon with Wave Splitter uses a Water-type pulse move on a Pokémon with [Storm Drain](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Storm_Drain_\(Ability\)), the effect of raising the target's [Special Attack](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Stat#Special_Attack) will only happen once.
[One-hit knockout moves](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/One-hit_knockout_move) only strike once. (Other [consecutively executed moves](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Category:Consecutively_executed_moves) can strike twice.)
### **Affected moves**
Although the following moves are affected by the Ability, they currently cannot be learned by any Pokémon with Wave Splitter. They may, however, be called via [Metronome](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Metronome_\(move\)), [Copycat](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Copycat_\(move\)), or [Mimic](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Mimic_\(move\)), or be used by a Pokémon that gained Wave Splitter by an Ability like [Trace](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Trace_\(Ability\)) or [Receiver](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Receiver_\(Ability\)) or a move such as [Skill Swap](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Skill_Swap_\(move\)) or [Role Play](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Role_Play_\(move\)).
### Outside of battle
Wave Splitter has no effect outside of battle.
