Wave Splitter
Wave Splitter is a custom ability introduced through PokeClash. It is the signature ability of Mega Clawitzer.
Effect
In battle
Wave Splitter lowers the damage of aura and pulse moves used by a Pokémon with this Ability by 25%, but causes them to become two-strike moves. Heal Pulse heals 50% of the target's maximum HP twice, including when using Z-Heal Pulse.
Since Wave Splitter turns moves into two-hit multistrike moves, each strike has a separate chance to be a critical hit.
Items and Abilities that trigger upon strike such as Cursed Body occur for each strike, and Spiky Shield and King's Shield only damage and decrease Attack (respectively) once if they protect a Pokémon from a contact move used by a Pokémon with Wave Splitter.
Additionally, there is only one accuracy check, so either both strikes hit or both strikes miss.
Any attack which has a secondary effect has the same secondary effect on both strikes (such as Dark Pulse); if a secondary effect has a certain chance of occurring, each strike has an independent chance of activating that effect.
Even if the Pokémon's Ability is changed to Mummy after the first strike, it will continue to make a second strike regardless.
Pay Day scatters coins after the first strike only.
Incinerate destroys applicable held items after each strike.
If a move has recoil damage, the recoil will be based on the damage dealt by both strikes, but will be taken after the final strike.
Struggle will inflict recoil damage equal to half the user's maximum HP (after the final strike).
Moves that switch the target out and moves that switch the user out strike twice, then force a Pokémon to switch out after both strikes are conducted.
If a Pokémon with Wave Splitter uses an Electric-type move on a Pokémon with Lightning Rod, or a Water-type move on a Pokémon with Storm Drain, the effect of raising the target's Special Attack will only happen once.
Fixed-damage moves deal the full amount of damage for both strikes.
Moves that require recharging after use strike twice, but the user only needs to recharge for one turn.
One-hit knockout moves only strike once. (Other consecutively executed moves can strike twice.)
Moves with a charging turn only strike once, even if the Pokémon becomes fully charged in one turn.
Affected moves
Although the following moves are affected by the Ability, they currently cannot be learned by any Pokémon with Wave Splitter. They may, however, be called via Metronome, Copycat, or Mimic, or be used by a Pokémon that gained Wave Splitter by an Ability like Trace or Receiver or a move such as Skill Swap or Role Play.
Outside of battle
Wave Splitter has no effect outside of battle.
