- Strong Jaw + Jaw Lock. One of the most powerful attacks in its arsenal. Effectively a costless 180 power (with STAB) physical Dark type move that can trap a target.
- Prankster-Immune Prankster. Good for facing opposing Pranksters as it cannot be taunted by them.
- Good utility moves. Has many good utility moves that benefit from its Prankster ability, such as Taunt and Will-O-Wisp.
- Good typing. The combination of Dark and Ghost is a good defensive typing as it only has one weakness while having 3 immunities and one resistance. Offensively, its a good neutral offensive STAB combination.
- Strong coverage options with Strong Jaw. While its STABs are good offensive neutrals, Strong Jaw allows it to run its many Fang moves as powerful coverage options.

- Physically frail. Chewshire has a meager 57 base Defense stat. Its type weakness is primarily Special-focused so it can be neglible to an extent but neutral physical hits will threaten it.
- Okay Attack stat. While 104 isn't necessarily bad, it isn't phenomenal. With 105 base Attack, it will still punch holes decently with its Strong Jaw boosted attacks but as much as compared to a Pokemon like Tyrantrum-Primordial.
- Competition for Physical Offensive Dark types. Offensive physical Dark types are everywhere lately. Strong Jaw Chewshire competes with Kingambit, Weavile, Roaring Moon, Weavile, and Meowscarada.
- Competition for utility Pranksters. This one is not really a consequence but rather a decision. Chewshire offers some neat tools to the Prankster population but lacks tools that most others do, most notably, Chewshire lacks screens which is a popular choice for Pranksters in Singles and Doubles (for good reason).
